Robin grew up in Rye, N.Y. and spent every summer of her life in Chatham. She graduated from Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. In 2008 she retired from a 25 year career teaching in the Art Department at Cambridge Rindge & Latin H.S. where her students “inspired her everyday”.
Robin now focuses her energy on her art and photography. She also does freelance portrait photography, occasionally teaches and gives Chatham walking tours. Her love of art, nature and people is infectious. One of her mottos is “Live life like everyday is the best day ever!”
I started painting five years ago when we moved to Cape Cod. I work in a series; pears, flowers, trees, oceanscapes and most recently a series on my father. Painting the same subject helps me focus, go deeper and experiment.
I strive to explore the lines between real and abstract , organic and geometric and hard and soft.
Photography is embedded in my imagery and informs my painting. When I create work I am thinking about color, composition and mark making. I love strong pure pigment and vivid shapes.
